Vintage Kewpie Doll

$140 OBO Vintage Frozen Kewpie Doll with blue wings. African American blue wing Kewpie dolls are rare, early 20th-century variations of the iconic cherub created by cartoonist Rose O'Neill in 1909. Produced alongside the classic white bisque dolls, these featured dark skin tones—often bisque or painted—and maintained the signature blue wings, representing early, sought-after diversity in doll production. O'Neill used the dolls' popularity to support women's suffrage, making Kewpies more than just toys but symbols of early 20th-century culture and female empowerment.
