Pioneer AVH1550 NEX Bought Last Year Used Once Or Twice

I bought this a year ago for installing but I'm still dealing with my vans remodel and life has been complex. Used only a few times, basically not at all. This was the second time I bought this model. The first unit lasted me over two years before it stopped putting out sound. There is an amplifier chip that is fairly small yet puts out 50x4 watts. It has the tendency to burn out after a while. Upon investigation I found that there is a great cooling system inside except that they put zero thermal paste between the chip and the heat sink which is horrifying. Anyway, as soon as I bought this lugger for 320$ I opened it up and applied high quality thermal paste. More than likely it will last double the time my last one did, maybe even longer if every year the surfaces are cleaned and new paste applied. Crazy...... Awesome cast aluminum heat sink, excellent little fan and an overall superb design...but they decide to skimp on around 40¢ of thermal paste... 🤯
