Antique Ship Captain's Desk

Beautiful quarter sawn white oak Captain's desk. We've had it for 40 yeas, and inherited it with the house that we bought back then. I'm sure it's much older than that. It is white oak laid on a tiger grain pattern. It is solid yet maneuverable. It's always been on wheels and we've used it for many things from a desk, to a credenza, to a buffet in our dining room. Time to let it go to a new home as we are purging and hoping to move soon. 38-1/2" wide 45" tall 16-1/2" deep (24-1/2" with desk open) Desk surface is 33-1/2" x 12-3/4" On the back there is some handwriting that shows it was for a captain's stateroom. We showed images to a well-known antique store downtown Seattle and he said the value is around 450 to $500. But he already had one or two so he wasn't interested in buying it yet. Hoping we can find a good home, someone that can appreciate the beautiful wood and craftsmanship in history. Thanks for checking our post.
