John Perry Sculpture - Manta Over Burlwood This listing is for an authentic John Perry sculpture of a Manta Wray floating over Burlwood. Dimensions: 9" tall, 6" wide, and 6" deep. This is a vintage piece and thus has that classic look that has been lost in today's mass produced pieces. Made in Newbury Park, California. This piece has been fully restored to bring it back to its original luster. This piece is a "must see in person." A magnificent Manta Ray swims through the air above a natural piece of Burlwood. The sculpture is by artist John Perry. John Perry is an internationally known sculptor who began creating beautiful sculptures in 1973. He remains in business to this day. He's also well known for creating the two turtle dove ornaments used in the movie, "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.' If you haven't seen the movie, Kevin, the little boy, gifts one turtle dove to his friend the 'Dove Lady', and he keeps the other making them friends forever. (See above image to refresh your memory or to create a new one.) This piece has had one owner and is now being offered as part of the estate sale. The following information on care and cleaning is taken from an original sales tag. The tag was attached to one of Perry's similar Manta Ray sculptures. I thought it would be very helpful. Cleaning instructions: "This sculpture is made of Pellucida, a durable resin compound developed by the artist. If it has a polished or painted finish, it should only be dusted or wiped with a damp cloth. If over time the Burlwood loses its luster, apply a little furniture wax, and it will buff up like new."
