Description

“Owl on Books”, Marion Bronze – Circa 1950s.  Polychrome bronze-clad. Measures 8” high x 3-1/2” wide x 3-1/4” deep.  Weighs approx. 7 lbs. the pair.  Not signed. These were originally produced by Pompeian Bronze in the early 1920s.  The molds were purchased by the newly formed Marion Bronze Co. around 1922. Marion Bronze was the last of the American bronze-clad (electroformed) foundries, closing in 1971, and their molds discarded.  All of their pieces are popular with collectors because of the highly polished and beautifully painted finishes.  These owls are shown as #633 in their 1960s catalog.  Paper tag long gone. Original felt on bottom. Perfect condition Looking for $250 or best offer.
