Description
Crisp corners, heavy bubbling, and lack of markings make this bottle a textbook example of late 19th-century utilitarian glassware, likely dating from the Victorian era. Features a classic "applied" or "tooled" lip; bottle body was blown into a mold, and then a glassmaker hand-applied a separate ring of hot glass to finish the lip. Bottom features a deep, smooth indentation known as a cup-bottom mold impression with a circular ring in the center. Tiny seed bubbles scattered throughout the aqua glass confirm that it was mouth-blown by a craftsman. Approximately 9” tall x 2-3/4” wide x 1-5/8” deep. Excellent antique condition – no chips or cracks noted. A few areas with mineral residue inside could be removed by the new owner if they didn’t enjoy that patina. The lovely pale aqua color makes this bottle a perfect decorative piece as an antique bud vase. Or place it on a windowsill where daylight will highlight the color and the seed bubbles. Asking $9 OBRO. No pets or smoking in house. Free pickup in Saratoga Springs, NY. No holds. First come, first served. Cross posted. If out of area: invoice and payment through PayPal.
