A Piece of Beistle Halloween History This decoration was manufactured by The Beistle Company of the USA, one of the most important and enduring names in American Halloween ephemera. Founded in 1900 by Martin Luther Beistle in Pennsylvania, the company began with calendars, paper goods, artificial plants, and other novelties before becoming famous for its holiday decorations. Halloween was actually Beistle’s first seasonal decoration line, introduced in the early 1920s. The company went on to produce more than 1,000 Halloween designs featuring witches, black cats, owls, bats, skeletons, jack-o’-lanterns, and other wonderfully spooky imagery. Their inexpensive, ready-made decorations helped make commercially produced Halloween décor popular in American homes and parties. This piece retains wonderful original vintage character, including age-related wear, surface scuffs, scratches, paint loss, edge wear, and areas of deterioration consistent with its age and the fragile nature of early embossed cardboard decorations. There is old tape and small pin holes. This is not a prestine piece, but still retains its rich color and character.
