Description
Maru Obi is the most formal type of sash woven at double width, then folded in half and sewn together, ensuring the intricate pattern runs continuously down both sides of the heavy fabric. This one has traditional spreading fans and imperial cartridges, classic symbols of prosperity, expanding good fortune, and wealth. Kinran (Gold Brocade) technique is heavily incorporating shimmering metallic gold thread into the silk base to create a reflective, dimensional effect as show in this piece. These striking historic textiles like this are repurposed as elegant luxury table runners or wall hangings. It’s a piece of art, focal point of the room, and conversation piece. It’s in excellent condition with no stain, tear or discoloration.
