Description
Mercedes-Benz 1979 307D W602 T1 Camper Van / Motor Home CA Smog Exempt vintage Diesel. Meet 'Mr. Mustard'. This is one of the first TN (Transporter Neu) vans off the line in Bremen, Germany, in the debut year 1979. Power comes from the 4 cylinder OM615 naturally aspirated diesel, fully mechanical, robust, simple and reliable, paired with a 4-speed manual, rear-wheel drive. 297,936 km (~185,129 mi) on the odometer. For an additional $1,500 I'll include a complete 5-speed overdrive transmission swap, clutch, flywheel, and shift linkages, etc. (RARE!) Everything on this truck is manual: manual steering, manual brakes, manual windows. H4 LED headlights are the one concession to modern life, plus a custom teak roof rack built for hauling surfboards. Van is rolling on 4 brand new ATX tires, + a full size pare. ($2500 value) The mid-1980's camper appliances were removed, and it is now a blank slate. Build it out however you want with new kit for your van adventure, or just run it as-is with a mountain of cargo space. This early version predates the side sliding door, so it's front doors and rear barn doors only. All the glass is A+, intact, dash is A+ perfect, and has zero cracks. Body: Mr. Mustard has got his share of surface rust spots, dings, dents, and sun. Each blemish is souvenir from a trip this van already took in it's world travels. Nothing too major. Seats are ready for re-upholstery. Fully complete running, drives, stops, no drama. It's a slow old guy, but it is always economical, and will get you where you're going. Point it at the pacific coast, load the surf boards, and go! Point it at the mountains, load the camping gear. Seller will help arrange auto transport anywhere in the lower 48 at buyer's expense. Clean OREGON title. Sold as-is, where-is. Sun Valley / Pacoima area.
