Headhunter 04:45 WINGER Pull Amazon Review: One of the Top 3 Metal Bands of 1993 Kip Winger and his band have never really gotten their due despite being a cut above most of their "hair metal" contemporaries at the time. Their '93 'Pull' album was pretty much them finally taking the kid gloves off and proving to naysayers that they were truly a force to be reckoned with in the rock world at the very least. Not only was the musicianship top-notch and wholly inspired through and through, this album might very well boast the best songwriting Kip and his highly-accomplished bandmates have ever come up with even to this very day. Songs like Blind Revolution Mad, Down Incognito, Junkyard Dog (Tears on Stone), In For The Kill, No Man's Land, and the reflectively acoustic album closer Who's The One for example showcased a far more mature side of the band never before seen on such a level back then and really should've placed them on the road to further mainstream acceptance. Unfortunately, the record industry was so heavily fixated on the rather lackluster Seattle-based "grunge" scene at the time that Winger and other more conventional rock/metal acts were completely left out in the cold as a result. As of today, it's downright criminal to see this now-overlooked classic rock album continue to remain out of print on CD and definitely needs to be reissued in that particular format just like it recently was on vinyl. If there was truly ANY justice in the music world back then, Winger would've gotten at the very least a well-deserved Grammy nomination for it without question! TIMELESS piece of work...
