Description

This is a Chinese ceramic roof tile figure of a guardian lion from the Ming dynasty. It was once on the roof as a guardian figure and decoration, but nowadays some people convert them into interior decorations such as a lamp base or for display. The piece measures approximately 10¾ inches high × 8¼ inches long and weighs 4 lb. 10.8 oz. It has an unglazed curved underside with visible wear, extensive glaze crazing, and a chip along the edge of the roof-tile base that exposes the ceramic body.
