Description
This is a stunning & rare antique Chinese archaic style gold-gilt bronze pouring vessel with a dragon head handle and geometric decorations along the rim. This (c. 1900) replica of a Zhou Dynasty gold-gilt-over-bronze pouring vessel (1046-256 B.C.) is in excellent antique condition with a nicely developing verdigris patina. Historically, a vessel of this type would have been used to hold water for washing one's hands & face, but now makes an outstanding Chinese art piece for display. The Zhou Dynasty was the 3rd and longest dynasty of ancient China when the some of the most important philosophical schools were developed and flourished; including Taoism, Confucianism, Mohism, Legalism, Military Strategy, Yin Yang, and Five Elements. DIMENSIONS: 6" H x 10" L x 4.5" W This vessel, and other unique treasures, are available at Traveling Man Treasures Curiosity Vault on NE 7th & Broadway in Portland, OR (open Saturdays & Sundays 11am-5pm).
