DESCRIPTION:Up for sale is a remarkably rare, mid-century piece of Disneyana history. This is an authentic vintage Japanese Disney animation painting featuring Donald Duck juggling on a unicycle.Unlike common paper lithographs from this era, this piece is hand-painted directly onto a fine silk/textile backing. The hand-painted nature is beautifully evident along the left edge where the green gouache background meets the raw silk border. The artwork features a highly unique East Asian cultural crossover styling. The top corner is signed "Donald" (ドナルド) in stylized, cursive Japanese brush script, anchored by a traditional red hanko (seal) chop mark.Framing & Provenance:The piece comes housed in its original, mid-century faux bamboo wood frame, perfectly capturing the Tiki/Mod aesthetic of the 1950s/1960s. The reverse side retains its original paper dust backing and features a vintage business label from "Percy E. Lowe Picture Framing & Furniture Finishing" located at 911 Main Street in Redwood City, California. The vintage "EMerson" alphanumeric phone exchange format on the label firmly dates the framing work to the mid-20th century.
