Description
Large fossil fish specimen from the Green River Formation of Wyoming, measuring approximately 12 inches in length. The specimen appears consistent with Mioplosus cf. labracoides, a predatory freshwater fish from the Eocene. The fossil displays a long articulated vertebral column, numerous ribs and fin rays, and a particularly well-preserved fan-shaped tail. The fish is preserved on a large light-colored limestone slab, providing strong contrast and making it an attractive display piece. Much of the body remains visible, including skeletal details throughout the torso and tail. Please note that the head region is more fragmented and less complete than the remainder of the fish. The matrix also has several natural fractures and separated/repaired sections, all of which are clearly shown in the photographs.
