Rare, authentic 1940s Hollywood Regency high-back statement armchair manufactured by the prestigious Grosfeld House (New York). This custom, designer piece blends dramatic theatrical proportions with stunning French Neoclassical / Louis XVI elements. Features beautifully hand-carved details throughout the solid hardwood frame, including acanthus leaf arm scrolls, fluted legs, transitional rosettes, and an open-work crest rail featuring a central scallop shell and drop-tassel motif. The original factory paper production stubs are completely intact underneath the frame, confirming Style No. 2349 and Cover No. 10169. This provides incredible provenance for antique collectors, dealers, or mid-century design enthusiasts. Dimensions: Height 42 1/2 inches x Width 28 inches x Depth 21 inches Condition Notes (Vintage / As-Is): This chair is a prime candidate for a high-end reupholstery project or professional restoration. Frame: Solid, sturdy, and structurally excellent. Light surface scratches and minor finish wear on the top crest rail consistent with age. Fabric: Features an elegant two-tone layout with a floral brocade front and rose velvet back. The fabric is original and shows advanced vintage patina, including thinning/threadbare spots on the seat cushion, and localized gapping/loose piping where the inner arm padding meets the wood track.
