Antique The Pieta Virgin Mary & Jesus Religious Hanging Wall Shadow Box Cupboard Antique The Pieta Virgin Mary and Jesus Last Supper Religious Hanging Wall Shadowbox Cupboard with Winged Cherub Angels Hardware Measurements ~ 22 1/2" high x 13" wide x 3 1/4" in depth. This is an exceptionally nice religious shadow box hanging cupboard, The Pieta, Virgin Mary and Jesus that was originally designed to be built into the wall.  Called The Pieta in Italian (pity).  Behind the glass are chalkware statues of the Virgin Mary cradling Jesus in her lap.   The glass is reverse painted with winged cherub angels on the top corners.  Below the glass piece is a hinge and tiny brass latch that opens where ceremonial items can be stored.  The front is a scene of the Last Supper.  On each side on the frame are brass figural winged cherub angels. The back has a wire attached to be hung on the wall.  The case is made of oak. Condition is very. very good.  No chips, cracks or repairs.  The statues of the Virgin Mary and Jesus are in excellent condition.  The colors are bold, bright and vivid. There is just a little bit of fading on the lower left side of the reverse painting which is hard to notice. Enlarge photos to see details.
