Title
TIME-LIFE Foods of the World
Description
For the "Foodie-Extraordinaire": "Foods of the World" was a series of 27 cookbooks published by Time-Life, beginning in 1968 and extending through the late 1970s, that covered many of the world's major cuisines. Each volume was a large-format, photograph-heavy hardcover book combining recipes with food-themed travelogues and interesting historical/regional commentaries in an attempt to show the cultural context from which each recipe sprang. The individual volumes were written by well-known experts on the various cuisines and included significant contemporary food writers of that time. The individual volumes remain collector's items today with the entire set of 27 selling for hundreds on Amazon (see attachment). This is a set of 4 volumes from the series: --The Cooking of Germany --Wines and Spirits --Latin American Cooking --The Cooking of Scandinavia Some reviews claim that this is a great resource for Foodies who enjoy a touch of history and are not necessarily looking for volumes and volumes of recipes: "Fabulous resource for any Foodie. Each book covers a cooking region or country with interesting history, colorful pictures and recipes. Fascinating reading even if you don't cook". *These books are over 50 years old and therefore do show some signs of their age (especially on the outside spine) and are therefore listed in fair condition. Will consider breaking apart the set and selling the books individually for $5 each. Cash only - will not ship or deliver.
