Description
To give any potential new owner a good starting point I like to share everything I currently know about the car good/bad/ugly since I got it in trade back in April and have only owned for a short time. It should be noted that since I got it I have put 500+ trouble-free miles on it cruising, in traffic, in sun, in the rain, and up to 90mph. Still interested? Here is the info: Running and driving project. Not quite ready for daily driver duties, but could be for the nice days… AC not working, door seals leak by the tops during hard rains or when pressure washed, power mirrors do not work, several small leaks (pwr steering, trans, rear main seal, rear pinion seal), trans cable (TV cable) needs some adjustment, speedometer is a bit jumpy and off a few MPH (at 55mph on dash is really 60mph), sounds like a driver rear wheel bearing may be needing replacement too, tachometer light is out, needs new door lock tumblers (guy before the guy I got it from lost key, I have new tumblers with new keys I can throw in if I can find them), exhaust is an old job and has some leaks at the flanges, 3 sets of t-tops, needs paint and body work (it has several flaws in the body and paint, the main being a previous repair to the passenger front, and it does have an older repaint). It needs a new nose cone and some fiberglass work by the passenger headlight. It took a minor impact on the passenger front that has a shadetree repair by the guy I got it from. It has original interior so that will need to be gone through as well, but it’s absolutely usable and drivable and enjoyable as is. Sometimes the passenger power window switch is finicky, but it’s not too often and it may just need the contacts cleaned, but still works. The steering and suspension could use a rebuild, but it drives down the highway at 60mph and is totally manageable, but is not as tight or smooth as it could be once rebuilt. It is a 40+ year old car, after all. Everything else is operating as it should. Heater and front/rear defrost works, radio works, aux gauges work, all exterior lights working and functioning, newer BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires, recent oil/filter change with good VR1 Valvoline oil with K&N filter. It shows 70k but I don’t know if it’s turned over or not. I’ve driven it around 500 miles at least since I’ve owned it. Clean title in my name. The car has gone as fast as 90mph, so it’s drivable, although I would not recommend pushing it like that until the car has been gone through. But it runs, drives, stops well enough to drive regularly while you work out the little things that need addressed. That’s all I can really think of. Hopefully you have a good idea of the car now to help your decision. If you’re still interested, come see and drive the car.
