Description

Offered here is an original U.S. Pre-WWI M1892 Bajonet and Scabbard for Springfield Krag-Jørgensen Rifles - dated 1896 ●●●Asking $175●●● ~~MakeMeAnOffer ~~ These are currently selling for $250 - $500 online, so for the $175 I'm asking it's a very good value. For being over 120 years old, it's in good condition U.S. M1892 bayonet dated 1896, made for the Springfield Model 1892–99 Krag-Jørgensen rifles, some of which were still in use during WWI. It is fitted with its original all steel scabbard with a swivel belt loop on the back. These are very rarely seen on today's market, especially with the scabbard included and fully intact. • The "Krag" was the U.S. Army's first repeating rifle, and the M1892 bakonet was based on the Swiss M1889 bayonet, made for use on the 7.5 mm. M1889 Schmidt-Rubin straight-pull bolt-action rifle. • This example is in fair condition considering its age with the original finish and undamaged blade with some post arsenal sharpening, the back of the blade has some apparent heavier use The 1892 pattern "smooth" grips are in original shape withrust/corrosion and are held in place by the correct ground smooth flat-rivets, which were changed after 1899 to domed rivets. It is marked 1896 on one side, and US on the other, and has a fully functional bayonet catch.  • The scabbard is in fair condition, with indents on both sides, evidence it was likely used as a prybar. • fully functional swivel. • Ready to display or add to your Springfield Krag rifle!  • Specifications: Blade Length: 11 3/4" Blade Style: Single Edge w/ Fuller Overall length: 16 1/4“ Crossguard: 3 1/4” Scabbard Length: 12 1/2" ~MakeMeAnOffer~ We're in the Wallingford area, and it's really easy to get to our house, as we're about 3 minutes from Aurora/99 or I-5, and there's always parking close by.
