Description
This is an exquisite, high quality reproduction of Andre Masson’s Female Faun (1948) exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago. The iconic original is a pen & ink done on pink laid paper (textured with fine lines) with a deceptively simple rendering of a mythological female upper body, and lower animal form. Andre Masson (1896 to 1987) was a French artist and considered one of the “master” draftsman of the 20th century for his work with lines, and bridging between the surrealist movement and American abstract expressionism. Masson is said to have been a big influence on important American artist Jackson Pollack (famed for his “drip” paintings). The reproduction is in excellent condition on high quality art stock, and nicely framed with a gold border behind glass. Drawing is 3” x 4” (and frame 6-1/2” x 8-1/2”). $45. Must pickup at Central Ave and Encanto, in central Phoenix (near the Heard Museum).
