Description
Priced to sell! Classic vintage amp, worth $4,000+ A mojo-dripping medium output blues machine! TV-front cabinets with original oxblood grill, vertical tweed and small, rectangular tweed upper back panel (leaving tubes exposed) dates it as a 1949 to early 1950 model. Tweed has been torn off the top and bottom; raggedy on sides and front. Newer power transformer; all caps replaced (filters are Sprague and Illinois; signal caps are Jupiters); speaker is correct type 1953 8-ohm Jensen P15N speaker (OT was attached to bracket on original speaker and has been moved to chassis) - speaker reconed at Heavy Sound. Appx 15 watts from 3 6sc7 octal preamp tubes, 2 matched Tung-Sol 1960's 5881 power tubes (also works great with RCA gray plate 6L6's and 1950's Mullard EL37's;5U4G rectifier. Sweet clean tones; very touch-sensitive - turn up to 7 and control volume AND distortion with just the guitar controls. 66 year old stock Jensen P15N sounds better and has slightly more headroom than newer, more sensitive Weber, Celestion and Eminence speakers tested in. Makes it very useful for any small/medium sized club gig. Sounds best with simple effects - a low-gain overdrive (if you want long, sustained violin tones); analog chorus or "wavy" tremolo, and analog delay or spring reverb unit (best with Fender tube reverb or Van Amps Sole Plate). Clean country to greasy-sounding blues/rock amp. Weight - 37 pounds
