Description
In 1891, the Jennings Brothers Manufacturing Company began their manufactory in Bridgeport, Connecticut. They continued business into the early 1900s. The company produced some of the finest crafted art metal pieces ever made during this Arts and Crafts time period. Their creations included high grade bookends, candlesticks, jewelry boxes, lamps and figurative items. Not lending themselves to mass production, their methods were exacting and painstakingly detailed. They relied upon the expertise of artists, sculptors and metal smiths. In the early 1950's the Jennings Brothers Manufacturing Company went out of business and the art object casts were purchased by another company in Philadelphia, PA. Even today, Jennings Brothers metal works of art are highly prized. Existing examples bear the distinctive hallmark of JB are keenly internationally sought after by collectors
