Description
Beautiful, matching pair of authentic antique Chinese hand-embroidered silk sleeve bands (zaoxiu), dating from the late Qing Dynasty to the early Republic period (circa 1890–1920). These delicate panels were originally made to decorate the inner cuffs of traditional women’s robes. They feature an elegant, painterly shanshui (mountain-and-water) landscape motif with pavilions, a scholar's gazebo, a traditional fishing boat, a bird in flight, and stylized pine trees symbolizing longevity. The hand-embroidery is executed in exceptionally fine satin stitching with a refined, muted palette of slate blues, creams, tans, and subtle terracotta on a golden-neutral silk ground. The central panels are elegantly framed by matching geometric woven silk brocade borders. Both panels are beautifully preserved under glass in a clean, professional frame and are ready to hang. They make a stunning addition to any Chinoiserie, traditional, or eclectic gallery wall. Condition: Excellent antique condition. The silk, embroidery, and colors are remarkably well-preserved with no major fading or staining. The frame is sturdy and ready to display. Dimensions: 30"H x 27"W $250.00 or Best Offer !!!
