Dwarf Mondo Grass

Mondo grass can be used as a clumping ground cover or a standalone accent plant. Mondo grass is a great addition to Asian and Japanese gardens. It can withstand moderate foot traffic and be used to add texture around rocks and borders. Mondo grass is low growing, tough, and only needs water to survive once established. It will typically reach heights of 6 to 10 inches when fully mature and grows best in USDA zones 6-10, but can survive in zone 11 with extra water. Mondo grass is very hardy, low maintenance, and doesn’t need regular fertilizing. Mondo grass likes partial shade, however, it will thrive in full sun, you will just have to add some extra water. LIGHT: Full sun to partial shade. WATER: Avoid overwatering. New planting require regular watering, but once established, mondo grass is drought tolerant. SOIL: Use a well drained soil. Mondo grass doesn’t like wet roots.
