Description
Alta rack bike rack with floor stand and swing out arm. Total retail price $3,700 Bike rack from Alta Racks that holds 6-7 bikes. Been an amazing bike rack to haul lots of bikes. It’s their highest rated rack that can hold up to 350 lbs. This bike rack comes with a floor stand on wheels that allows you to store the bikes in your garage when the rack is not mounted to your vehicle. It also comes with a swing out arm (driver’s side) that allows you to swing the entire rack away from the back of your car. For more details on the bike rack, it’s best to go to Alta Rack’s website and check out the details for their Superior 76er 6 pack bike rack. The attention to detail on this bike rack is insane. The bikes sit in the tire cages and then have rubber straps to hold down both tires. You also have pedal straps that secure the pedals and help distribute the weight of the bikes. There are several carabiners to hang helmets and other bike gear. The cages themselves are adjustable and can move from side to side depending on your needs. There are heavy duty ratcheting straps that prevent the rack from swaying. The rack itself can tilt back away from the vehicle, but it can also swing out of the way, even fully loaded with all the bikes. It’s a very heavy duty bike rack that can handle just about anything. I added an LED brake light strip onto the rack that allows you to hook up to your car through the 6 way round power adaptor. Cars behind can now see when you brake and your turn signals. The vertical post is high vis orange so the rack is easier to see by other cars (all black bike racks that aren’t carrying bikes can sometimes be hard to see by other drivers and they don’t keep enough distance behind you). Alta Rack sells all sorts of cages, so if you have a particular tire width, you can buy cages specific to your needs. I have 6 of their heavy duty cages that can support bikes up to 70 lbs, up to 29” tires with up to 3” width. I also have an additional 2 fat baskets that can hold bikes with tires up to 4” wide. This was intended for two rad cycle e-bikes that I needed to move. The bike rack weighs approximately 95lbs. It’s 65” in length. Here’s a breakdown of the price of this bike rack if you bought it brand new: Bike Rack: $1,730 Swing out arm: $1,199 Floor stand: $419 Six inch kick out: $75 Two additional fat baskets: $150 each; $300 total Total: $3,723 (plus tax and shipping) My bike rack is 3 years old and in perfect shape. I mainly used it to haul multiple bikes for bike races. You can find similar, vertical bike racks on the market that are cheaper, but they won’t be as well made as this one. Alta racks prides themselves on the quality and construction of their products. They use strong metal components. They are very heavy duty bike racks that last forever. Again, you can find cheaper racks that actually weigh less, however they are not made as well and will bend and break over time. Especially if you need to haul big, heavy mountain bikes or e-bikes, then this is the bike rack for you. If you are interested, I recommend you read Alta Rack’s website to learn more about them, the care they put into their products and understand why they are the best vertical bike rack manufacturer on the market.
