Vintage circa-1969/70 transition-era single-fin surfboard — 5’10” × 19⅝” × 2¾”, with period Fins Unlimited Vari-Set–style adjustable fin system and vi

A genuine piece of shortboard-revolution history. This 5’10” single-fin appears to date to approximately 1969–70, right in the middle of one of surfing’s most important design periods—the Shortboard Revolution, when surfers and shapers were rapidly abandoning traditional 9–10 ft longboards and experimenting with radically shorter, faster, more maneuverable boards. At 5’10” × ~19⅝” × 2¾”, with a full forward outline, pulled-in tail and period adjustable single-fin setup, this is exactly the kind of experimental design that defined that transition. The vintage multicolor laminated fiberglass fin and early Fins Unlimited Vari-Set–style system make the package especially interesting. This isn’t a restored reproduction—the board still wears its 50+ years of patina, repairs and use, which I’ve intentionally left visible. The original maker/shaper is unknown, so I’m not going to invent an attribution, but the construction, shape and fin hardware strongly place it in the late-’60s/very-early-’70s transition era. More than just an old surfboard, it’s a survivor from the period when the modern shortboard was being invented.
