Description

Decades ago I subscribed to Kroch's and Brentano's First Edition Circle. Every month or so I'd receive a new first edition hardcover book, signed by the author. One of those books is "The Swiss Account" by Paul Erdman. I never read the book and never even opened it, so the book and the dust jacket are in pristine condition. Perfect for book lovers and collectors! Free Local Pickup (Spring Hill, Florida) or free shipping via Media Mail. Other shipping options at buyer's expense. "The Swiss Account" is set in Switzerland during the final months of World War II and follows a top-secret mission led by American spymaster Allen Dulles. The mission involves three operatives tasked with stopping the flow of Swiss arms to Nazi Germany and sabotaging the German atomic bomb project. The novel presents a fictionalized account based on real historical events, particularly focusing on the controversy surrounding Switzerland's role in the war, including the storage of Nazi-looted gold in Swiss banks and the country's complex neutrality. Erdman, who had a background in finance and economics, including a PhD from the University of Basel and experience founding a Swiss bank, brought extensive research to the narrative, which is noted for its detailed footnotes and historical accuracy.
