Description
Original studio art pottery vase by prominent Pacific Northwest ceramic artist Matthew Patton. Handcrafted in 1992, this sculptural piece perfectly embodies the bold, geometric forms and expressive glaze experimentation of the late 20th-century postmodern ceramic movement. The vase features a dramatic, wheel-thrown bell or flared lower body that sharply transitions into a slab-built, square-tapering neck. It is flanked by two prominent, geometric square-loop handles that add a powerful architectural silhouette. True to Patton’s celebrated mastery of atmospheric kiln firing, the glaze work is exceptional. The deep, dark reduction tones of the lower body erupt into a vibrant splash of crystalline purples, shifting cobalt blues, and rich oxblood accents near the neck and shoulder. The unglazed base bears the artist's crisp, incised signature. Excellent condition. No chips, cracks, hairline fractures. Pick up off Rainier Ave S near Renton. Can also meet up in Bellevue or Issaquah. I will delete this posting when no longer available.
