Antique Rare Ko'u Wood Calabash Bowl

Ko'u, pronounced (koh-oo), is very rare and makes for a very collectible antique Kou wood calabash bowl. Almost totally destroyed by a moth in the 1800s, it is one of the rarest woods from Hawaii. Kou was prized by Hawaiian royalty for food use: poi bowls, calabashes and utensils as Kou does not impart a taste to food. What makes this bowl extra special is that it was purchased early 80's at the Little Grass Shack in Kealakekua, Kona Hi and has the artist's name, Ola Woods, carved signature on the bottom as well.
