Description
This rare 1961 36-foot Airstream has a fascinating history, having been custom commissioned by the Southern Pacific Railroad as a mobile bunkhouse for California track-building crews. It retains its original, wide-open floor plan with no built-in holding tanks, and the structural shell is incredibly solid. It successfully made it through a heavy winter in the snowy Lake Tahoe National Forest with absolutely zero leaks and no history of rodent or pest issues. While the exterior wears its history with some dents, dings, and patches, and a few of the windows are currently non-functional, the interior is dry and entirely livable. It features a fully enclosed, waterproof shower room with an endless hot water system powered by a propane pump, a setup for a composting toilet, a brand-new refrigerator, and a window AC unit. The entire setup was operated completely off-grid using a large outdoor water tank and a Pecron solar power system, which is available to go with it for an extra $2,800. Tows great
