Antique Higher End Welch, Spring & Co. “Dolaro” Shelf Clock, ca. 1886.

Up for sale is is this higher-end shelf clock by Welch, Spring & Co. dating back to the late 19th century. It is shown in Ly’s book on Welch clocks (see #112). This stunning piece features an ornately carved walnut wood case accented by a classical metal female cameo bust at the top peak. The glass door features elegant, original stenciled/etched artwork depicting a heron amidst reeds and stylized bamboo flora. Inside, the clock retains its traditional Roman numeral dial and an attractive metal pendulum bob. Condition Details: Cosmetics: The wood case is structurally sound with a rich vintage patina. There is minor wear consistent with age, including faint scuffs. The dial shows some authentic aging and wear near the keyholes (please review photos carefully). Glass: The etched front glass is intact with no visible cracks or chips. Functionality: Runs keeping good time and strikes hourly. (May need adjustments if shipped due to travel jostling) Includes the original highly deceptive pendulum bob and winding key.
