Vintage Bowl Of Onions Painting

Forest Gump’s mom made a comparison between life and a rectangular cardboard receptacle filled with candy, ain’t that sweet. MY STEPDAD DALE…..that jackal’s got a different sayin, he says “life is like a bowl of onions!!” He says a lot of things, most likely because he doesn’t get many visitors at the adult 4 seasons “summer camp” he’s been at since I was 7. He’s one of those types that says things like “well ain’t that a beehive in a glove box” without ever explaining what the heck that even means. So when he said “Life is like a bowl of onions” I just nodded my head and said “ye Dale you right.” Dale told me of a time when he was a child, his mother sat him down on the kitchen counter for 8 hours as she painted a portrait of him, she was a grocery store clerk with a curiosity for the arts. Afterwards she turned the painting around, to his astonishment, for the past 8 hours she had been painting him as a bowl of onions. And I guess at that moment Dale realized that his own life WAS in fact like a bowl of onions. Pam painted this portrait of Dale in 1965. She took the wrong backpack skydiving and now I own it.
