Description
This stunning, ornate, gold metal light is an authentic 1920s Art Nouveau "bridge" floor reading lamp crafted from ornate cast iron with a gold-washed polychrome finish. These lamps earned their name from their immense popularity during the 1910s and 1920s, when they were positioned next to easy chairs to provide focused downward lighting during games of bridge. Lamp is in remarkably impeccable condition for its age. Key Features: * The Bridge Arm: showcases an exceptionally intricate, openwork filigree design * The Stem: classic, tightly twisted rope-form column, accented by a mid-pole floral or leaf break * The Glass Shade: downward socket is fitted with a beautiful, vintage blown iridescent gold tulip-form art glass shade * The Base: a heavily weighted, pierced triangular platform base adorned with matching relief patterns and original pink/red polychrome accents. Dimensions: 50 x 10 x 18” HWD
