Description

A vintage to antique 8 panel glass hanging swag lamp in working condition with a patriotic theme and extremely ornate detailing. It is 19" across and 12" tall. Each panel is about 8"×6". It has a patriotic theme with 2 flags, stars, and a drum with the presidential seal on each panel. I believe the metal structure is copper though it could be tin finished to look that way too. The detail in the metal structure is really incredible. Each piece of glass is "edged" with the copper. The "neck" has cut out detailing and amazing eagles and floral details repeating all the way around. In between the panels and connecting to the neck is very ornate floral pattern with what looks like eagle/bird at the top and bottom of each section that are soldered. A couple of of the bottom birds that solder has broken loose but they are still very stable. It is in remarkable solid condition with only minor solder issues and no cracks or dings to the painted panels. The style of lamp was used by Currier & Ives but with different metal detailing and obviously different panel art. I cant find anything else like it. Obviously these old glass light fixtures are fragile so probably not many made it. This dates to the 1920s-1940s. The chain/cord is about 15' long. It is really a fascinating and beautiful piece that looks great lit up and unlit as well. See pics for condition. If you can provide any input about the meaning of the art or of the lamp as a whole please let me know. I can deliver. Offers and trades considered.
