Vintage R.H. Palenske “Temptation” – Framed American Fox Hunting Sporting Art

A finely detailed vintage sporting artwork titled Temptation, attributed to American artist R. H. Palenske (1874–1955), celebrated for his equestrian, hunting, and wildlife imagery. The dynamic composition captures a traditional mounted fox hunt, with riders and a pack of hounds clearing a rustic fence while a startled hare escapes through the foreground. Palenske’s accomplished draftsmanship brings movement, anatomical detail, and remarkable energy to this classic countryside scene. The artwork bears the title “Temptation” beneath the image at lower left and the artist’s name at lower right. An original descriptive label remains attached to the backing, identifying the composition as one of Palenske’s notable drypoint plates. Presented under glass in a traditional black frame with narrow gold interior trim, complemented by naturally aged ivory-toned paper. An appealing collectible for enthusiasts of American sporting art, equestrian history, traditional fox hunting, and country estate interiors. Particularly suitable for an English country house, gentleman’s study, library, equestrian office, or sophisticated rustic interior.
