Description
This vibrant 1-gallon Nootka rose is a hardy, fast-growing native shrub cherished for its fragrant pink blooms and incredible ecological value. Found along forest edges, meadows, and streambanks, Rosa nutkana grows 4–8 feet tall, spreading gently by rhizomes to form lush thickets that support birds, bees, and butterflies. In late spring to early summer, it produces large, single pink flowers with a sweet, wild rose scent—an important nectar source for native pollinators. By late summer, it forms bright red rose hips rich in vitamin C, traditionally used by Indigenous peoples in teas and remedies to support immune health and digestion. Tough, deer-resistant, and tolerant of various soils, Nootka rose is perfect for hedgerows, wildlife gardens, erosion control, or native restoration projects. Its beautiful blossoms, edible hips, and ability to stabilize land make it a valuable addition to any PNW landscape. Thrives in sun to part shade. Zone 4–9.
