Description

Amazing, well-preserved 14"x5.5" Gretsch 4157 Broadkaster Narrow Model snare drum. Very legibly stamped "JUN 5 1952", firmly in the golden era of Gretsch drum manufacturing. 3 ply maple/gum Jasper shell, 8 lugs, die-cast hoops, and a fully functional (!) original micro-sensitive strainer, matching buttplate, and round knob muffler. All original including Gretsch Responso 16-strand wires, only with the exception of both heads (I will include the batter head it came with but the reso was not salvageable). Sky blue pearl wrap is clean, tight, and vibrant as ever. A wonderful dry, sensitive and woody snare with a vintage sound that simply cannot be found in any modern drum. If you are a serious Gretsch fan or Art Blakey devotee, this is the drum for you! If you're looking for drums or cymbals, check out my other listings too!
