Description
Antique Egyptian brass bowl with silver inlay from 1913. The bowl is inlaid with hand-engraved, intricate silver interlocking patterns, scrolling, medallions and motifs (sometimes referred to as cairoware). The pictures don’t do justice to the incredible contrasting silver inlay over brass color. Bowl is 5” in diameter, 3-7/8” tall and in excellent condition (with only minor imperfections consistent with its age). Inscription (portions illegible) on the bottom reads: Brass Pitcher with Arabic engraving inlaid metal ______ ______ Cohen, Cairo, Egypt 6 May 1913 This would be an interesting piece for a mantle or other focal display shelf. $125. Must pickup at Central Ave and Encanto, in central Phoenix (near the Heard Museum).
