Description
Original 1968 Lucas Samaras “Match” color screen print (serigraph). This is not a digital reprint but the original from the Pace Gallery which exclusively represented the artist. See picture of Pace Gallery inscription on reverse of screen print, lower right hand corner. Lucas Samaras (1936 to 2024) was a Greek-born American photographer, sculptor and painter whose work is exhibited today at the Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Art Institute of Chicago and J. Paul Getty Museum (LA). His body of work has been described as mid-20th century avant-garde. There are only a few original “Match” screen prints for sale today, but at many times this price. See active listing for same serigraph at “AbeBooks,” and sold prices at “live auctioneers” and “mutual art” websites. The pictures don’t do justice to the strength and vitality of the colors. Screen print is framed behind glass, in excellent condition and ready for hanging. 14” wide by 18” tall. $195. Must pickup at Central Ave and Encanto, in central Phoenix (near the Heard Museum).
